This edition contains the complete Violin Sonatas and Partitas (BWV 1001-1006) arr. for Violoncello Solo.
 
This edition is based on the autograph manuscript, staying as faithful as possible to Bach’s original works. I have added in minimal fingering and bowing suggestions. Several of the chord fingerings require shifting or hopping in the middle of rolling the chords. In certain situations, this was the only way to keep all of the notes. Only on extremely rare occasions have I completely omitted chord tones from the original text, when otherwise it would be impossible to play or would completely break the musical line. The bowing suggestions are marked as up bow or down bow (I did not alter any of the slurs).
 
All of the works have been transposed down an octave and a fifth in order to maintain Bach’s use of the open strings and violin positioning.
